"I originally thought maybe there was something lacking about my writing space. Something broken about it. We have an office where the business happens, but my writing space is off our upstairs
bedroom.
"It's the size of a walk-in closet, paneled in knotty pine and otherwise mostly windows. The room overlooks a forest, where bald eagles soar and deer occasionally make their way past. There is a small bookcase opposite the windows, out of my sight, but only for devotional material. My real bookcase is in the office.
"When I write, I sit on a cushy love seat, surrounded by cozy blankets and I write exclusively on my MacBook
Pro. I wear headphones and listen to instrumental music--which varies depending on the mood of my
WIP (Work In Progress). There's a small table next to my little love seat, where I keep a pitcher of green iced tea and a box of Kleenex. The picture here doesn't do justice to God's part of my office--
the view.
"I've found myself thinking, 'A real writer would have a desk, and she would be surrounded by books and other sources of inspiration. And pens and
paper.' But today, I put my shoulders back and smiled. Because, of course, the writing space--however it looks--must house the writer's heart and mind and soul, and it
must invite for the writer, the Holy Spirit from which she creates. And only
that."
